FAQ

The film has interviews with outstanding milongueros and milongueras, including Carlos Gavito, Susana Miller, Maria Plazaola, Tete Rusconi, Cacho Dante, Ricardo Vidort, Raul Poli, Osvaldo Natucci, Elba Biscay, and Luisito Ferraris, among others, and with performance stars including Milena Plebs and Eduardo Arquimbau.
The milongas featured in the film were hugely popular in the era between 2000 and 2003, including Niño Bien, El Beso (various organizers), Club Juvenil, Sunderland, Torquato Tasso, Gricel, and El Caribe.
Here I'll use what Carlos Copello once told me after he arrived at Niño Bien from a stage performance: "There I dance for an audience. Here I dance for me." This captures the essence of the difference, which is one dance is for spectators, the other is a personal expression to your partner in the music without regard to how you are seen. Milena Plebs said that in a show she knows what is coming, while at a milonga, she enjoys the unknown of what's coming from her partner.
